Recommended Prior Learning

Having taken 2KAI or 2HOSP is advantageous, but not essential. 



Level up your foodie game in this course where creativity meets real-world challenge! Students will research and design an epic pie for the school canteen, dive deep into the design process and technological modelling, and take on the ultimate test of precision and flair—mastering complex procedures to create a show-stopping Paris Brest. With flavour, function, and innovation at the heart, this course serves up a taste of what it takes to be a next-level food technologist.


Skills/content you will cover in this course: 

  • Think critically and evaluate problems

  • Use the follow the design process from idea generation to launch

  • Understanding of plant based meat alternatives

  • Develop and create a menu for a food truck

  • Choux pastry and praline.

  • Strong literacy is required for students to complete research and report writing.


Skills you need to be successful in this course - Excellent time management skills as assessments are project based, be open to critically thinking, and strong literacy is required for students to complete research and report writing

This course is useful for or will lead to - this course can lead to tertiary study in Food Technology, Engineering, Food science, Cookery or Health Science.
