Course Description
Learning Area Leader: Mrs M. Millar.
This is a highly practical, performance based course. Learners will explore issues of importance and relevance to them through script work, devising and viewing live theatre.
Skills/content you will cover in this course
Integrate drama techniques to clearly communicate a role from a Theatre Aotearoa script
Use conventions to devise performance
Interpret scripted text to perform as part of a class production
Analyse live performance and make connections with the wider world.
Skills you need to be successful in this course - ability to work with a group throughout the rehearsal process, to listen to and apply direction, creative problem solving skills, knowledge and understanding of Drama techniques, conventions, elements and technologies and willingness to perform to an audience.
This course is useful for or will lead to - pathways in the Creative Industries and tertiary level study, this can include theatre, media, film and television. Drama builds skills in communication, confidence, empathy and creativity; skills that can be applied to a wide range of career pathways.
Recommended Prior Learning
Recommended Drama has been taken at Level 1 and/or Level 2, or in discussion with Learning Area Leader.

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
