9 Fuel for the Mind and Body (Semester)
Course Description
Learning Area Leader: Mr A. Gebbie.
This is a half year integrated Health/PE/Nutrition based course that aims to introduce learners to Health Education. This course looks at the importance of nutrition and physical activity for positive mental health.
Skills/content you will cover in this course
Mental health - expressing feelings, dealing with change, the science behind how endorphins are released and how we can promote positive mental health and strategies around this
Nutrition - understanding foods and food groups, healthy foods and how food and nutrition affects health and wellbeing - practical food component
PE - exploring a range of physical activities and understanding how movement can impact health and wellbeing.
Skills you need to be successful in this course - an interest in Health and wellbeing. The ability to positively contribute and think critically surrounding how health and wellbeing can be impacted and strategies to support this.
This course is useful for or will lead to - building foundational knowledge for senior Health. Year 10 Health selected.
