Course Description
Learning Area Leader: Mrs M. Millar.
This course has a healthy performance aspect to it. Learners will need to have developed their skills on an instrument enough to be able to perform in both a solo and a group setting to an audience. They will also learn about the research process in having to research a New Zealand music topic and present it back to their pairs. There will also be an opportunity for them to compose their own music.

Learning to use programmes such as Noteflight and Soundtrap to compose original music.
Skills you need to be successful in this course - Skills playing an instrument. Composition skills. Computer skills. Research skills.
This course is useful for or will lead to - Level 3 Music and onto tertiary studies.
Recommended Prior Learning
Level 1 Music and a minimum of 4 years of music tuition in their chosen instrument.
Additional Course Specific Contributions & Equipment/Stationery
The College has a variety of well-maintained Instruments for Hire at an extra cost of $20 per term. Usually instruments are hired by learners taking a Music course or instrument tuition; however, it may be possible for other College learners to hire instruments if they are wishing to use them in one of our performance groups.
Please note that any extra curricular Performing Arts activities may incur an optional cost of between $50-$100 approx.
