Course Description
Learning Area Leader: Mrs M. Millar.
In this highly practical course, learners will produce their own group and solo choreography and have dance performance opportunites. Learners will develop their skills in leadership, performance and collaboration. The course includes and optional external assessment and the opportunity to negotiate other achievement standards with the Teacher in Charge depending on learner experience, skill and capability.
Skills/content you will cover in this course
The integration of Dance Elements to communicate an intention
Rehearsing and developing choreographic ideas
Analysing dance performance and interpreting intentions behind choreography
Dance performance skills.
Skills you need to be successful in this course - prior dance experience (any style) and knowledge of dance elements, ability to work independently and collaboratively, accepts feedback and applies this to choreography, creative problem solving skills, ability to work in a group and willingness to perform to an audience.
This course is useful for or will lead to - pathways in different creative industries and tertiary level study, this can include performing arts, dance, teaching, film, television and other medias. Dance builds both practical skills and skills in collaboration, confidence, the ability to communicate with a wide range of people, creativity and skills that can be applied to a wide range of career pathways.
Recommended Prior Learning
Recommended Dance has been taken at Level 1 and/or Level 2, or in discussion with Learning Area Leader.

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
