Course Description

Ever wanted to understand the ‘why’ behind different behaviours? Ever wondered how the human mind works? Ever considered why society works the way it does? Ever wanted to understand how mental illnesses occur? Psychology is about examining human behaviour with the objective of understanding why these occur and how they impact us as individuals. Throughout this course, you will have opportunities to research behaviour and its motivations, understand the mental processes behind behaviours and build your understanding of how society can impact the human mind.
In this course, you will build your knowledge around:
Famous Psychological studies and their impact on the field of study
Understanding Psychological approaches and what they attempt to explain
Conducting your own Psychological experiments
The human mind both physically, and as a psychological concept
If you’re considering a career in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, NZ Police, or Counselling in general, this could be the course for you.

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
