2 Outdoor Education

Course Description

This course focuses on developing outdoor skills while connecting with natural spaces through a Māori perspective. Students will deepen their understanding of the Māori perspective on the natural world while developing their technical skills in mountain biking, tramping, and rock climbing. By understanding Te Taiao, the interconnection between everything in the natural world, students will deepen their connection to nature. This course offers valuable life skills for careers in guiding, stewardship, DOC, instructing, and environmental science.

This course will include trips outside normal school hours including multi day and overnight trips.

The dates and times will be confirmed when the course starts. Course costs cover transport, activity fees, and equipment. You will need access to a suitable mountain bike and helmet to complete aspects of this course.

Additional Course Specific Contributions & Equipment/Stationery

This course includes a range of Field Trips at a cost of $325.00 to deepen and reinforce learning. * Course cost to be added to statements at the start of course.
Learners will be expected to assist with and supply their own property (Mountain Bike, Bike Helmet, Appropriate Footwear for Tramping, Quick dry shorts and T Shirts) for overnight and day trip excursions
