2 Design and Build
Course Description
Learning Area Leader: Mr F. Rzoska.
Students will learn a range of practical skills within the workshop, which supports both a set product and design and make an outcome. NCEA Achievement Standards will be used with some BCITO Unit Standards supporting further learning to enable multiple future pathways for the students.
Skills/content you will cover in this course
Measuring, marking, cutting, shaping, fabrication, fitting and finishing
Health and Safety codes of practices
Workshop processes to increase both independence and efficiency
Solving problems, consulting stakeholders and creating functional outcomes
Skills you need to be successful in this course - determination, resilience, good communication and research skills.
This course is useful for or will lead to - 3BUILD and other tertiary or apprenticeship pathways.
**Please note that learners can only choose one build course and cannot take 2BUILD and 2DAB**
Recommended Prior Learning
It is recommend that students have successfully completed Y11 Construction however students that have successfully completed wood technology in year 10 can be considered with consultation with Mr Van Garderen
