1 Legal Studies
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr R. McBrearty.
In this course we will explore the concept of 'law' and how laws are made in New Zealand. We will understand the reasons why laws are needed and how to ensure that they treat all people fairly. We will also explore whether different laws are effective and the impacts of different groups of people in our society.
In the second half of the year we will learn about different types of Government and how the decisions that are made affect people and places. Following this we will focus specifically on New Zealand and the structure of our Government. You will then have the opportunity to explore a social situation and the impacts that it has had on your own life or that of others. This is a great course if you are interested in politics and the impacts on our society.
