Course Description

This course explores the complex and often turbulent history of conflicts and challenges that have shaped the world we live in today. Through a range of case studies, students will examine the causes, consequences, and dynamics of conflict and challenge in different historical contexts.
The course covers a broad range of topics, including political and ideological conflicts, wars and revolutions, economic and social challenges, and cultural and religious clashes. Students will develop a critical understanding of the diverse ways in which conflicts and challenges arise, and the different strategies and outcomes that have been pursued to address them.
Throughout the course, students will engage with a variety of primary and secondary sources, including historical texts, visual and material culture, and multimedia resources. They will also develop key skills in historical analysis and interpretation, critical thinking, and communication.
