Welcome to the the fascinating world of Geography, where you will investigate a range of interesting and relevant topics both locally and globally.
Skills/content you will cover in this course
The science of tectonic plates
The natural and cultural environment of Canterbury - mountains, rivers, wetlands and their impacts for people
Global research into population, fertility rates and sea level rise
Research and analysis skills.
Skills you need to be successful in this course - you will need to learn to write succinctly like a geographer, display research skills and be interested in the world around you.
This course is useful for or will lead to - this course will lead nicely into level 2 Geography. Further opportunities include geography, geology, sociology, political science, environmental work, urban and natural development, and management
Additional Course Specific Contributions & Equipment/Stationery
Possible Overnight Field Trip opportunity to deepen and reinforce learning at an approximate cost of between $100 to $150 covering travel expenses and entry fee.
