Course Description
Learning Area Leader: Mr F. Rzoska.
1DVC, develops the full gambit of design thinking, the design process and presentation. The programme utilises teacher developed Design Briefs. The primary brief is Product Design related the secondary brief is Spatial Design.

Design influences.
Skills you need to be successful in this course - have good attendance, be a design risk taker and willing to apply one-self. Understand "simplicity" is the key to successful design. Be self motivated and able to work unsupervised - at times. Understand design is a skill and needs to be practiced
This course is useful for or will lead to - 2DVC, Spatial Design (architecture), Product Design
Recommended Prior Learning
Having undertaken DVC at Y9 or Y10 will be an advantage but not a prerequisite.
Additional Course Specific Contributions & Equipment/Stationery
Students would benefit from having continual and regular access to a laptop that is capable of running current Archicad, Fusion 360 and Autodesk Inventor. These programs are free to download through Rolleston College login.
A limited number of school laptops are available on a daily basis.
