Course Description

Recommended Prior Learning

Level 1 or Level 2 Health


This course builds on the learning from Level 2 Health. Learners will explore a range of health issues both national and international. They will explore strategies to address a number of contemporary health related issues.


Skills/content you will cover in this course 

  • Essay/report writing is a key element in this course for all standards 

  • Research skills - researching health practices used in NZ (Western Scientific, Complementary Alternative and Traditional medicine)

  • Critical thinking - exploring a contemporary ethical issue.


Skills you need to be successful in this course - a high level of literacy skills is required. Essay/report writing is a key element in this course for all standards. Critical thinking skills is required when exploring a range of contemporary health issues. 

This course is useful for or will lead to - this course is aimed at learners who enjoy research and thinking critically in the realm of health and health related issues. This course provides skills in preparation for further tertiary study or for those who have an interest in the Health sector.
