Course Description

Teacher in Charge:

This unit is an introduction to early childhood learning and life skills. The course is designed for people who care for young children in parenting roles, or as support for carers of infants, toddlers, and/or young children in a supervised environment. Learners will demonstrate knowledge of health issues, communicable diseases, and environmental factors affecting the health and well-being of young children, immunisation programmes, and health services in the community that protect and enhance the well-being of children. Learners will describe the importance of environment, interactions, and the value of play.

Voluntary Course Contribution
● Course Fee $20.00 for in-class materials and resources.
● Possible Field Trip opportunity to deepen and reinforce learning at an approximate cost of between $15 to $35 covering travel expenses and entry fee. * to be confirmed during the course depending on available exhibitions and events and added to statements as they occur.

Optional Items - Recommended for home purchase and use
● Dedicated learner laptop (Chrome book suitable) with learners own headset recommended.
● Student workbooks. If a learner elects to complete an external exam, a revision work is recommended and can be purchased via the College at a cost of approx. $10 to $25 * depending on year level and workbook required.

To keep costs low, we recommend only buying the items of stationery you do not have. Your child is welcome to bring items from home, perhaps purchased in previous years and repurposed to save money. This could include erasers, headphones, scientific calculators, and padlocks for the lockers if they already have one.
