Year 11 Level One Maths and Course. A Mathematics rich course for learners who are looking to take maths further. It is designed around external assessment and leads on to the Problems Surround Us (1STEM2) course but can also be selected independently if you are thinking of a career in medicine, engineering or architecture; it is a must!

This course is necessary to set up the mathematics skills required in higher education. It is essential for those wanting to go in to medicine or engineering and is recommended for all learners who want to study at University.

Voluntary Course Contribution
Annual E-learning lesson & homework tool (IXL) to assist and reinforce lessons at a cost of $25.00.
Possible Field Trip opportunity to deepen and reinforce learning at an approximate cost of between $15 to $35 covering travel expenses and entry fee. * to be confirmed during the course depending on available exhibitions and events and added to statements as they occur.

Optional Items - Recommended for home purchase and use
Dedicated learner laptop (Chrome book suitable) with learners own headset recommended.
Theory workbooks As there are two externals attached to this course, we recommend learners purchase the Walker Maths Workbooks at an approx $10 each to reinforce lessons and assist with revision.
Those choosing to complete an External Exam are encouraged to purchase a revision coursebook for home via the school at a cost of $10.00.

To keep costs low, we recommend only buying the items of stationery you do not have. Your child is welcome to bring items from home, perhaps purchased in previous years and repurposed to save money. This could include erasers, headphones, scientific calculators and padlocks for the lockers if they already have one.


Assessment Information This will have a couple of Internal Assessments but will also be focused on preparing for the MCAT external examination.
