Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Ms C. Green.

Where did we come from and where are we going? These are the questions we will answer in this course. We will start by looking at the biological evidence for human evolution followed by the cultural advancements that took us to where we are today. We will then look at biotechnology and where that may take us in the future. If you want to know more about the history of yourself then this is the course for you.

External standards: We will be investigating processes that lead to speciation, through mutations, geneflow, natural selection, patterns of evolution and the evidence for this. Next we will move into Human evolution and the significant events that lead us to who we are today both biologically and culturally.

Internal standards: We will be taking a look into how our internal body copes with fluctuations through homeostasis. Putting our practical skills to the test with either an investigation into how external factors affect daphnia or plant growth. Along with the impact of controversial biology both socially and from a scientific point of view.
