2 Mechanical Engineering: Technology (2MENG1)
Teacher in Charge: Mr M. Hobbs
Students will complete a model static steam engine. You will learn to work with a wide variety of engineering metals and cover a wide range of engineering processes. Machining, welding, and assembly of components to a high standard is required. Four workbooks will be being completed to support your practical learning.
Marking out and cutting.
Machining and dimensional measuring techniques.
Welding copper and copper to brass.
Folding and shaping metals.
Assembly and fitting.
Testing and refinement.
Recommended Prior Learning
It is recommended that students have successfully completed Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering in year 11.

To keep costs low, we recommend only buying the items of stationery you do not have. Your child is welcome to bring items from home, perhaps purchased in previous years and repurposed to save money. This could include erasers, headphones, scientific calculators, and padlocks for the lockers if they already have one.
