2 Education for Sustainability
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr R. McBrearty.
Learners will have the opportunity to investigate both local and global challenges relating to the environment. They will learn about how decisions made have an impact on sustainability and why these decisions are made. Learners will contribute to the kaitiakitanga (protection and guardianship) of important natural resources through creating and putting in place an action plan.
This course helps learners to better understand the world around them, the challenges facing the environment and how they can actively contribute to positive change now and in the future.
Additional Course Specific Contributions & Equipment/Stationery
Possible Overnight Field Trip opportunity to deepen and reinforce learning at an approximate cost of between $200 to $250 covering travel expenses and entry fee.
